About Frugal

Frugal exists because of one unanswered email.

In 2026, I wrote to my telco and asked, "how much have I spent on data this year?" They never replied. So I asked friends — how much did you spend on transport, on feeding, on your subscriptions? Out of more than thirty people, only one knew his transport figure, and that was because he was on a fixed allowance. Everyone else guessed.

That's when it hit me. We don't actually do our personal accounting. We have no idea where the money goes — so we end up spending more when there is more, less when there is less, never deliberately. Frugal is the answer to that. The app that makes you spend with intention, not in fog.

What Frugal is, in one line

A personal finance app that watches every debit, asks you what it was for, and shows you patterns you can act on — without ever holding your money.

What Frugal is not

  • Not a bank. We never touch your money. Your bank holds it; we just read the notifications.
  • Not a savings/investments app. That's what Cowrywise and PiggyVest do — and they do it well.
  • Not free. Sustainable software needs sustainable economics. ₦20,000/month after launch (₦5,000 lifetime for waitlist members).
